About Cubeguard
Security advice tends to swing between alarm and jargon. Cubeguard tries to sit in the sensible middle: a blog that explains how digital and physical threats work, and what ordinary people and small organisations can reasonably do about them.
Coverage falls into four areas. Cybersecurity deals with scams, malware, account protection and the habits that reduce risk. Privacy looks at what data is collected about you, who holds it and the settings that give you more control. Smart Home Security covers cameras, locks, sensors and connected devices, including how to set them up without leaving a door open to strangers. Business Technology addresses the systems that companies rely on, from passwords and backups to vendor choices and staff awareness.
The readers behind the topics
Some visitors run a household network and want to know whether their doorbell camera is safe. Others look after a small company with no dedicated IT staff. A few simply received a suspicious message and want to understand it. Posts are written in plain language, with technical terms explained as they come up.
How we handle accuracy
Because security guidance goes stale quickly, articles name the sources behind them, such as vendor documentation, public advisories and recognised standards, and carry a date. Older posts are reviewed when a threat or a product changes. Steps are written to be followed in order, and anything that could lock you out of an account or a device is flagged beforehand.
We explain defences and do not publish instructions for attacking systems you do not own.
